The PIne Ridge Indian Reservation in SW South Dakota is one of the poorest places in the United States. In the 1970s it was the site of a general uprising that resulted in the death of two federal agents and the ultimate lifetime incarceration of Leonard Peltier although no conclusive proof was offered that he was their killer. My friend Eric and I came upon this group of Native Americans taking a break from their tedium by celebrating the birthday of the woman in front.
