A typical morning scene on the Plaza in years gone by. Old time Taos residents still fondly recall the basement hardware department of El Mercado where you could find all kinds of interesting things that you thought no longer existed. It was like going on a fantasy treasure hunt. The smudges on the bottom of the sign are the result of countless kids making a short hop and whacking it with their hand as they passed by.
