Joe Sunhawk was an Apache child who had been raised at the Pueblo and grew up to become an important leader among them. When I came to Taos, he and another Pueblo man named Tellus Good Morning were openly receptive to many newcomers and I shared a number of interesting encounters with Joe. He was a good friend and was well liked by people throughout the community.
